Using our Voice

Many of you are aware that I work in a Doctor’s office. Living in Florida has become a challenge. Our Governor chooses to make every decision based on his future desire to be president. Unfortunately, his choices are wreaking havoc on the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Florida. Last week the number of patients coming into our office with Covid increased immensely. This is of grave concern to me. Also, many patients continue to question and defy the mask requirement of our office because “They live in Florida, the free state. I feel like I am living in two alternate realities, so it has become very challenging. It is vital for me to be a presence of peace. Yet when I leave the office, I feel agitated because I have held back my truth or voice. We live in an ever more polarized society. Life is not about right or wrong, good or bad, Republicans or Democrats. It is about the whole of our society, filled with diversity and uniqueness. We are meant to be different. We are given tools to guide us and teach us to make the best decisions for ourselves. When educated people use these tools for self-gain, They hurt the people they serve. Many believe those in power and blindly follow the statements made. This week one patient told me that Florida has at least 21,000 cases a day because of all of the immigrants living here and coming over the border. I was aghast! I told her that that many patients coming into our office with Covid were, in fact, married couples between the ages of 40 and 75, not immigrants. Unfortunately, this message came from our Governor. It has been difficult for me to speak my truth. I am careful when using my words and expressing my frustration. It is important to slow down and talk slowly, purposeful. When we do this, we are centered in our higher selves.

The Throat Chakra is part of our Chakra system. It is the area located near our Adam’s apple. This chakra is associated with communication, self-expression, and creativity through sound. It is about personal expression combined with responsibility. This chakra is also connected with hearing and active listening.

The color associated with the throat chakra is blue, and the crystals are turquoise, sodalite, lapis lazuli, and Celestite. When we hold in our words and push them down, we create blockages in our throat chakra.

This week our affirmations will focus on our throat chakra, our voice. I leave you with a couple of questions to ponder:

How could you strengthen your voice? Try singing, chanting in the morning for a few minutes, or recite a poem.

How could you express your feelings if you feel uncomfortable verbalizing them? Start a journal to express your true feelings.
