1st Chakra is the Root Chakra

Its energy center is located at the base of the spine

Its Color is Red

Associated with Earth Elements

Its primary functions are associated with

self-preservation, self-esteem, survival instincts, physical sensations. Grounding ourselves and movement.

When we have blocks in this area, we may physically experience

stiffness, a lack of graceful movement, problems with our legs, thighs and hips, low blood pressure, obesity, back pain and bladder infections.

We may also psychologically experience

depression, suicidal thoughts, addictions, lack of confidence, fearfulness, frustration, and hyperactivity

This chakra governs our relationship with money, career and home

Our spiritual growth begins with this chakra

Some healing practices for the root chakra

Walk in nature and connect with the earth. This can be very grounding!

Sitting in nature taking in the beautiful surroundings around you.

Listen to nature music with sounds of thunder or drums

Eat grounding foods (sweet potatoes, beets, radish and other root vegetables).

Meditation or visualizations and yoga are also beneficial
